Server Compass is a desktop application designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your infrastructure data, credentials, and deployment information should remain on your machines, not ours.
Data Collection
What We DON'T Collect
- SSH credentials or keys
- Server IP addresses or connection details
- Environment variables or application secrets
- Deployment logs or application data
- Git repository contents or code
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Any personal data beyond your email address
What We DO Collect
- Email address (provided during purchase for license key delivery)
- Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider, not stored by us)
Data Storage
All application data, including server credentials, deployment configurations, and environment variables, are stored locally on your machine. Server Compass encrypts sensitive data using industry-standard encryption methods.
Your data never leaves your computer except when directly communicating with your VPS servers via SSH.
Third-Party Services
Server Compass integrates with the following third-party services:
- GitHub: When you connect your GitHub account, we use OAuth to access your repositories. We only request the minimum permissions required for deployment functionality.
- Payment Processor: We use Gumroad (or your payment processor) to handle purchases. They have their own privacy policies governing payment data.
- Let's Encrypt: When provisioning SSL certificates, your domain information is sent to Let's Encrypt's certificate authority.
Security
We take security seriously:
- All credentials are encrypted at rest using your system's secure credential storage
- SSH connections use key-based authentication
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- The application does not phone home for analytics or updates
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request deletion of your email address from our records
- Request a copy of any data we have stored about you
- Uninstall the application and delete all local data at any time

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes via email or through the application.
