After Deployment

After deploying Borgitory with Server Compass, complete these steps to finish setup

Open http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:{{PORT}} and create the first admin user

Replace the `borgitory_backup_source` volume with bind mounts pointing at the directories you want to back up (edit the compose file and redeploy)

Create one or more Borg repositories under Repositories (local under `/repos/...` or remote via SSH)

Add backup jobs with schedules, retention (prune) rules, and notification channels

Run a manual job and then a test restore to confirm the full backup -> restore cycle works

Common questions about self-hosting Borgitory

How do I deploy Borgitory with Server Compass?

Simply download Server Compass, connect to your VPS, and select Borgitory from the templates list. Fill in the required configuration and click Deploy. The entire process takes under 3 minutes.

What are the system requirements for Borgitory?

Borgitory requires a minimum of 512MB RAM. We recommend a VPS with at least 1024MB RAM for optimal performance. Any modern Linux server with Docker support will work.

Can I migrate my existing Borgitory data?

Yes! Server Compass provides volume mapping that allows you to import existing data. You can also use standard Borgitory backup and restore procedures.

How do I update Borgitory to the latest version?

Server Compass makes updates easy. Simply click the Update button in your deployment dashboard, and the latest Borgitory image will be pulled and deployed with zero downtime.

Is Borgitory free to self-host?

Borgitory is open-source software. You only pay for your VPS hosting (typically $5-20/month) and optionally Server Compass ($29 one-time). No subscription fees or per-seat pricing.
