Deploy Flipt on a VPS with Server Compass

Use the Flipt template in Server Compass to deploy a self-hosted feature flag service on your VPS, then verify the web UI loads.

Open the server Apps tab

Select the tutorial-vps VPS, open the Apps tab, and start a new app deployment. Keep sensitive server details hidden before capturing or sharing screenshots.

Choose an app template

Click New App and choose the template deployment path so Server Compass can load the built-in catalog.

Search for Flipt

Use the template picker search to find Flipt in the Server Compass template catalog.

Select the Flipt template

Choose the Flipt template. Server Compass fills the Flipt service, persistent data volume, bootstrap API token, and public web port.

Review the Flipt settings

Confirm the app name and compose service. In this run, the app was named flipt-demo and used host port 4065.

Deploy Flipt

Review the generated compose settings, confirm the Flipt web port is available, and click Deploy.

Watch the deployment progress

Keep the deployment modal open while Server Compass uploads the compose file, pulls the Flipt image, starts the container, and verifies the stack.

Confirm Flipt is running

After deployment finishes, return to the Apps tab and confirm the Flipt app is marked Running with its application URL available.

Open Flipt in the browser

Open the application URL in a browser. The Flipt UI confirms the feature flag service is reachable.

Store the bootstrap token in a password manager.
Use HTTPS before connecting production SDK clients.
Back up the Flipt data volume because it stores namespaces, flags, segments, and rules.
Create separate namespaces or environments before shipping flags.
Use scoped tokens for applications where possible.
Restrict administrative access with a reverse proxy, VPN, or firewall for production use.
Keep the Flipt image updated for platform and dependency fixes.
