Use the Shlink template in Server Compass to deploy a self-hosted URL shortener API with persistent storage on your VPS, then verify the Shlink API health endpoint in a browser.
Select your VPS, open the Apps tab, and start a new app deployment. Keep sensitive server details hidden before capturing or sharing screenshots.

Click New App and choose the template deployment path so Server Compass can load the built-in catalog.

Use the template picker search to find Shlink in the Server Compass template catalog.

Choose the Shlink template. Server Compass fills in the Shlink API service, public short-link domain, initial API key, and persistent data volume.

Confirm the app name and compose services. In this run, the app was named shlink-demo and used host port 4034.

Review the generated environment values, confirm the port is available, and click Deploy Now.

Keep the deployment modal open while Server Compass uploads the compose file, pulls the Shlink image, starts the container, and verifies the stack.

After deployment finishes, return to the Apps tab and confirm the Shlink app is marked Running with its application URL available.

Open the application URL in a browser. The Shlink API health endpoint confirms the URL shortener API is reachable.

The Shlink API health endpoint loaded successfully in a browser.
It deploys the Shlink URL shortener API with a persistent data volume for short URLs, visits, and configuration.
The tutorial used host port 4034, which maps to the Shlink web service on container port 8080.
The tutorial verifies the clean Shlink API health endpoint because domain, API keys, redirects, and short URL settings depend on the production instance.
