SSH Key Management
Generate, inspect, and manage SSH key pairs. Private key contents stay on disk and are never shown in the app.
What the SSH Keys page does
Open SSH Keys from the sidebar ("Manage your SSH key pairs"). It scans your machine for keypairs and lets you generate, inspect, reveal, and delete them. Private keys are encrypted on this machine and their contents are never sent anywhere — the app works with metadata only.
Generate or import keys
Use Generate New Key to open Generate New SSH Key ("Create a secure key pair for your server"); new keys default to a servercompass folder, and you can pick a custom folder. Add Folder scans another location for existing keys, and Rescan refreshes the list. Search "by name, path, or fingerprint" and sort by Newest first or Name (A-Z).
Inspect and use keys
Each key row shows its name, a Passphrase-protected badge when encrypted, a masked path and fingerprint, and the actions Public Key, Private Key, and Reveal in Finder. The private-key view is marked Sensitive: "Never share your private key. Its contents stay on disk and are not shown here; use Open in Finder to access the file." To attach a key to a server, use that server's Git tab or the SSH sub-tab under Advance.
